ALAQ’s Surf rescue Certificate is structured to teach the vital skills of performing rescues, identifying dangers, resuscitation, principles of First Aid and supervision of children in an aquatic environment. The course is an entry level to becoming a patrolling Lifesaver or Lifeguard. The Surf Rescue Certificate is aimed at students who are in year 9 and 10, however it can be tailored to suit ages 13 years through to adults.

This certification is recognised by the Department of Education and Training (DET) Water Safety Guidelines for supervision of children in both open and closed waterways.
 

RELEVANT FOR

Any student that participates in coastal water based activities i.e. surfing, body boarding etc.
Any teacher that is responsible for supervision of students participating in coastal water based activities.
 
COURSE DURATION
24 hours (Full Course)
4 hours (Update – required every 12 months)
 
PRE-REQUISITE
The minimum age requirement for Surf Rescue Certificate is 13 years.
Participants must be able to complete a swim of 200 meters within 5 minutes over a measured course (minimum 25m pool or measured open water course).

Full Course - $185.00
Update - $75.00
 
CERTIFICATION
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will obtain a ALAQ Surf Rescue Certificate.
