HLTFA404A - Apply Advanced Resuscitation Techniques

The Apply Advanced Resuscitation Techniques course deals with the provision of advanced first aid resuscitation techniques, life support, and management of casualty(s), until the arrival of medical or other assistance, and provision of support to other providers. In essence, the course combines Advanced Resuscitation, Defibrillation and Suction.

 

DURATION

8 hours (Full Course)
6 hours (Update – every 12 months)
 
PRE-REQUISITES
• The minimum age requirement for Defibrillation is 15 years
• Must hold current unit of competency in either:
- HLTFA301B Apply First Aid or
- HLTCPR201A Perform CPR or
- HLTFA201A Provide Emergency Life Support

Full Course - $100
Update - $80
 
COURSE CONTENT
• Prepare resuscitation equipment ready for use
• Apply bag and mask resuscitation technique
• Attach an operate an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
• Administer oxygen
• Operate suction equipment
• Restore and maintain equipment ready for future use.
 
ASSESSMENT
Participants will demonstrate their level of knowledge, skills and understanding through both practical and theoretical activities, and be assessed against this.
 
ELEMENTS OF COMPETENCY
On successfully completing the training and assessment, participants will obtain a nationally accredited Statement of Attainment in the following unit of competence:
- HLTFA404A Apply Advanced Resuscitation Techniques
