Nationally Recognised Training courses run by ALAQ have great benefits for students of Queensland high schools.

Some Nationally Recognised courses are assigned a point value, that can be counted towards a students' Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) - so while they are learning some essential life saving skills, they are also assisting their aim to achieve their QCE.

Queensland Certificate of Education

When a student reaches year 10 or turns 16 - whichever comes first - the Queensland Studies Authority (QSA) opens a 'Learning Account' for them, which monitors and records learning achievements that may count towards their QCE. When this account is opened, each student is assigned a Learner Unique Identifier (LUI), which is individual to each student. This LUI is used by learning providers, such as ALAQ, to notify QSA of any enrolments or results achieved by a student.

What courses can I count towards my QCE?

ALAQ is aware that currently qualifications such as the Certificate II in Public Safety and short courses such as Apply First Aid (HLTFA301B) and Perform CPR (HLTCPR201A) can be counted towards a QCE.

How do I confirm with ALAQ of the courses I would like counted towards my QCE?

Firstly, we request that you already have your LUI. If you have a LUI issued from your school, then complete the Vocational Education and Training Form (VET Form), which is available either from ALAQ, or if you are a club member, via your club or branch. A printable version of this form is also available via a link at the bottom of this page. The form must be completed for each individual course you wish to have banked towards your QCE. If you don't currently have a LUI, or aren't sure what it is - that's ok. Complete the remaining information on the VET Form and leave your LUI blank - ALAQ will be able to source it on your behalf from the QSA.

This form is industry standard and must be completed correctly. ALAQ has created the CMF12 - QSA Learning Account Request Guidelines to assist in the completion of the form. Please ensure you follow these guidelines.

Once you have completed your form, please send it to ALAQ, via mail. ALAQ will submit requests to the Department of Education & Training (DET) on a regular basis, but once the form has been submitted to DET we are unable to advise of exactly when or how long it will take for the information to be uploaded into the QCE system.

Please note that the cut-off date for receipt of requests at ALAQ for students to be eligible for a QCE in December 2010 is 1st November, 2010.

Any applications received after this date will be processed in time for the July 2011 issue of the QCE.

Please complete the form and send via mail to:

Please ensure you refer to both the Guidelines and Section Definitions before completing the VET Enrolment Form.
